Aims + Outcomes

The Survey investigates ongoing information on health behaviours, health status and other factors that influence the health of the people of NSW. Feedback on these issues supports planning, implementation and evaluation of health services and programs in NSW and helps the NSW Ministry of Health put measures in place to plan for health system improvements in the future.

Who is this survey being undertaken for?

The New South Wales Population Health Survey is being conducted for the NSW Ministry of Health. The Social Research Centre to conducts the telephone interviews required for this survey.

How will the information be used?

The Survey provides ongoing information on health behaviours, health status and other factors that influence the health of the people of NSW to support planning, implementation and evaluation of health services and programs in NSW.

Why should I participate in this survey?

It is vital that our sample represents all sectors of the NSW population to gather an accurate picture of the attitudes, behaviours and health needs of your community. Feedback on these issues helps the NSW Ministry of Health put measures in place to plan for health system improvements. Your assistance will help the NSW Ministry of Health plan better health services in your community.

How long will the survey take to complete?

The survey will take approximately 20-25 minutes to complete. Arrangements can be made for you to participate at any time that is convenient for you.

Is the survey compulsory?

The survey is entirely voluntary, but your participation is important if the Ministry is to get accurate feedback on the health status of the NSW community.

Why are you calling from an ‘02’ number?

An Australian company that provides phone numbers for market and social research has supplied us with a list of mobile numbers. Some of these have been randomly generated, and others have been verified as belonging to NSW residents.
