Dr Julie Connolly

Director, Program Evaluation

Program Evaluation and Qualitative Research

Julie joined the Social Research Centre in 2022 and has worked in social research for over twenty years, including her doctoral and post-doctoral work. In this time, she worked on a variety research and evaluation projects for not-for-profit organisations in Australia, and taught research methodologies and the history of western political thought to undergraduate and Masters students in political science and policy studies at the Universities of Queensland and Melbourne.

Julie has extensive experience working with communities to facilitate their input into policy processes, including public inquires and other consultations. While working in refugee resettlement, Julie co-convened regular meetings of community leaders from Brisbane’s emerging ethnic communities to facilitate their input into several public inquiries on employment, seniors and housing policy. In other projects she has consulted with staff groups to finalise policy submissions and reports, including interviews and focus groups with positive behaviour specialists on an internal review of restrictive practices in Queensland, and staff at the Queensland Program for the Survivors of Torture and Trauma on strategies to redress the intergenerational transmission of trauma as part of an inquiry into mental health outcomes in Queensland.
