The Social Research Centre has been commissioned to deliver the Teacher, Trainer and Assessor Survey, a national census of the Vocational Education and Training (VET) workforce. The project seeks to address key evidence gaps relating to the VET workforce, and to generate reliable data to support workforce planning, policy development and sector sustainability.

This research is being conducted for the National Centre for Vocational Education Research (NCVER) by the Social Research Centre.

 

Aims + Outcomes

Methods

An online survey with follow-up telephone interviewing will be used. The survey will collect information on workforce characteristics, employment arrangements, career pathways, professional practice, professional development, and future workforce intentions.

Who participates?

To be eligible to participate, you must be aged 18 years or older, and have undertaken a Training and Assessment (TAE) program between 2016 and 2025. A sample of eligible participants will be provided to the Social Research Centre by NCVER.

What are the benefits?

By participating in this survey, your feedback will help governments develop a better understanding of VET, including career pathways, professional development, and experiences working in the sector. Your insights will directly influence the future of Vocational Education and Training in Australia.

How does it work?

People eligible to participate will be sent an invitation to complete the survey via email or SMS.

The surveys can be completed online using any device with a web browser (desktop, phone, tablet, etc).

Eligible participants may also receive a call inviting them to complete the survey via a telephone interview.

Information collected through the survey will be used to build a better understanding of VET, including career pathways, professional development, and experiences working in the sector. Findings will help address gaps in existing data and inform future workforce planning and policy. Your responses are completely confidential. Your answers will be added to a larger collection of data. No information that could identify you will be kept.
