This mixed methods research project explores settlement experiences of refugee and humanitarian migrants with a view to identifying factors which facilitated ease of settlement resulting in a sense of belonging and social connections.
This research project is being conducted by the Social Research Centre for the Scanlon Foundation Research Institute on behalf of Department of Home Affairs.
This research study aims to understand the settlement and integration journey of refugee and humanitarian migrants through the lens of the Settlement and Integration Outcomes Framework. The Framework provides a strong starting point to conceptualise the complex and dynamic social and human experience of Integration.
Methods include a survey (in 10 languages) and interviews with humanitarian migrants who have settled in Australia over the last decade. The findings from the qualitative and quantitative components will be triangulated into a comprehensive report.
