This research involves 2 short follow-up surveys with people who received nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) through Quitline. The study explores quitting outcomes and participants’ experiences to help improve Quitline support for people who want to stop smoking or vaping.
This research is being conducted for Cancer Council Victoria (on behalf of the Victorian and South Australian Quitlines) by the Social Research Centre, with funding from the Victorian Department of Health and Preventive Health SA.
The study examines how helpful NRT was for people using Quitline to quit smoking and/or vaping. It looks at quit outcomes, participant experiences and satisfaction. Findings will help inform future improvements to Quitline services and NRT programs and support evidence-based service delivery.
Two web-based surveys sent at 6 weeks and 3 months after your Quitline call.

People who received NRT through Quitline and consented to be contacted for research may be invited to take part. Participation is voluntary and does not affect access to Quitline services or free NRT.
Your feedback will help the Victorian and South Australian Quitlines understand how effective NRT is when used alongside counselling support. The results may improve services for others wanting to quit. Participants receive a $20 reimbursement after each completed survey.
If eligible, you will receive an invitation to complete a web-based survey approximately six weeks and three months after your Quitline counsellor call. The first survey takes about 10 minutes and the second about 5 minutes. With your consent, responses may be linked (using a unique ID) to information previously collected by Quitline to better understand the support you received.
