The Lowy Institute has contracted The Social Research Centre to conduct the telephone interviews required for this survey. You may have received a phone call from 03 8383 4900 regarding this study.

The information collected in this study will be used by the Lowy Institute to analyse shifts in Australian attitudes on foreign policy over time and the results made available to the public on their website (www.lowyinstitute.org).

Your phone number was randomly generated by computer. We find this is the best way to obtain a representative sample to make sure we get opinions from a wide range of people.

The Do Not Call Register is for telemarketers who are trying to sell you something or get you to donate to charity. It does not apply to people who are only collecting opinions and conducting research.

The survey will take about 15 to 20 minutes to complete, depending on your answers. If you would prefer to participate in the survey at a more convenient time for you, this can be arranged. We can re-schedule an interview time with you anytime between now and 25 March 2018.

The survey is entirely voluntary, but your cooperation is important in order to get an accurate understanding of Australian attitudes on foreign policy, including people from all states and territories.

Any information you provide will be completely confidential and your answers will not be identified as individual responses. Responses are used for research purposes only and are treated in strict confidence. No other agency or department will have access to your details. All information provided is protected by strict Commonwealth and State privacy laws.

If you have any questions about your participation in the survey or would like to make a time for an interviewer to call you, please call the Social Research Centre on 1800 023 040 (a free call).
