Impact

This survey is for parents who have experience with Child Safety in Queensland to tell us what they think and how to make things better.

If you are a birth parent or other parent with Child Safety experience in the past five years in Queensland and are at least 18 years old, the Child Safety Parent Survey is for you to have your say.

The survey will ask you questions about your time as a parent working with Child Safety. We want to know:

  • If parents are told about their rights, what they need to do, and the help they can get when working with Child Safety.
  • What are the hard things about involvement with Child Safety.
  • What are the good things that Child Safety does.

Your answers will be used to help Child Safety understand what it’s doing well and what needs to be done better.

The Social Research Centre is an independent company that will collect everyone’s answers to write a report. Funding for doing the survey has been provided to us by Child Safety.

Partner

The survey is being run by the Social Research Centre (SRC) on behalf of:

  • Family Inclusion Network, Southeast Queensland
  • Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Child Protection Peak
  • Department of Families, Seniors, Disability Services and Child Safety (Child Safety). The survey is being funded by the Queensland Government.

The SRC is an independent company. That means we are not part of Child Safety or the government.

Aims + Outcomes

This survey is for parents who have experience with Child Safety in Queensland to tell us what they think and how to make things better.

Methods

Using an online form, parents will be asked questions about what it was like to work with Child Safety, and if it was good, bad or both.

The survey has 40 questions and takes about 15 minutes to finish.

The Social Research Centre will collect everyone’s answers to write a report. The report will be shared with the organisations who have worked together to make this survey happen. This includes FIN, QATSICPP and Child Safety.

All answers are private. We keep them secret and safe. No one will know who answered the questions.

Have you been contacted to participate?

Who participates?

Parents who have had contact with Child Safety in Queensland in the last 5 years, who are 18 years or older. We hope more than 200 parents will do this survey.

What are the benefits?

This survey is a way to let the Queensland government know what parents think about Child Safety, and what needs to change to make things better for parents.

How does it work?

If you choose to do the survey, we will ask you to fill out an online form. You will be asked questions about what it has been like to work with Child Safety, and if it was good, bad or both. You will also be asked some questions about you – things like your gender identity, how old you are, and if you speak a different language at home. If you don’t want to answer a question, you can skip the question.
