Client: Cancer Institute NSW

Cancer Institute NSW has contracted the Social Research Centre to conduct the telephone interviews required for this survey. You may receive a phone call from 0290608430 regarding this study.

Breast cancer screening can highlight individuals with signs of potential breast abnormality allowing for early investigation. Through early detection, screening aims to reduce breast cancer mortality and morbidity.

An additional component of the NSW Cancer Plan is the implementation and evaluation of breast screening social marketing campaigns.

The information will be used to evaluate the Institute’s 2020 breast cancer screening social marketing campaign and help inform the development of future campaigns and cancer control activities.

All information you provide will be treated in strict confidence. The results will only be used for planning and research purposes. The survey has been approved by the Cancer Institute NSW Ethics Committee (HREC). If you have any concerns or complaints about the survey, you may contact the Social Research Centre on 1800 023 040 (a free call) or Philippa Maynard (Senior Research and Evaluation Officer at the Cancer Institute NSW) on 02 8374 3569.

The survey will take approximately 15 minutes to complete. Arrangements can be made for you to participate at any time that is convenient for you.

The survey is entirely voluntary but your participation is important for the Cancer Institute in working towards reducing the incidence of cancer, increase the survival of people with cancer and improve the quality of life of people with cancer.

Any information you provide will be completely confidential and your answers will not be identified as individual responses. Responses are used for research purposes only and are treated in strict confidence. No other agency or department will have access to your details. All information provided is protected by strict Commonwealth and State privacy laws. Please see the SRC’s Privacy Policy (here) for more information

Your telephone number has been chosen at random from all possible telephone numbers in your area. We find that this is the best way to obtain a representative sample of all NSW residents for our survey. Households with silent numbers are not in the White Pages but it is important that these people are included in the survey.

An Australian company that provides phone numbers for market and social research has supplied us with a list of mobile numbers, verified as belonging to NSW residents. Your name, address and telephone number will not be retained or shared with any other individual, agency or department.

If you have any questions about your participation in the survey or would like to make a time for an interviewer to call you, please call the Social Research Centre on 1800 023 040 (a free call).
