The data collected will inform future initiatives to build India literacy within Australia as part of fostering strong people-to-people ties and supporting trade and investment interests with India.
The survey includes questions about respondents’ experiences and general knowledge about India, perceptions of India’s economic and strategic importance to Australia, levels of cultural connections and understanding, and attitudes to Indian Australian communities.

Research was conducted in September and October 2024 with Australians aged 18 years and over.
A quantitative survey of 2,158 participants was conducted drawing on a nationally representative sample, along with three virtual focus groups for qualitative fieldwork.
