Are my answers confidential?

Yes, all answers you provide will remain confidential. Responses to the survey will be linked with demographic and training data provided by your training provider. However, only group responses, not your individual responses are reported. All personal details will be destroyed at the end of the project. You have the right to request access to the information we hold for you. Please refer to the Social Research Centre’s privacy policy for further details.

Do I have to participate?

Participating in the survey is voluntary. However, it is important that the results represent all students. If you do not wish to participate please telephone the Social Research Centre (freecall) on 1800 020 676 or email

I didn’t finish the training. Am I still eligible to participate?

Yes. We value your participation in the survey, even if you discontinued the specified training after enrolling in it. The questionnaire collects information on reasons why people might have discontinued their training. This information is important for us, as it will assist with future planning.

The training I undertook was very short. Do you still want me to respond?

Yes. Your response to the survey is important, even if the training you undertook was only of a short duration (such as a one day training course undertaken through your workplace). All responses to the survey will be used by national and state/territory bodies, along with local training providers, to ensure vocational training is of high quality and relevant to Australian workplaces.
